High School Dance Students Invited to Attend Dance Dayby News Bureau on
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 7, 2011 -- Prospective Southeast Missouri State University students interested in majoring in dance are invited to attend Dance Day hosted by the Department of Theatre and Dance on Saturday, Dec. 3.
The event will begin at 9 a.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall and the River Campus dance studio at Southeast’s River Campus. The event is free and open to all high school dance students in grades 9-12.
Students will have the opportunity to participate in three master classes – ballet, modern and jazz – taught by Southeast’s professional dance faculty. Parents also will have the opportunity to ask questions about Southeast’s dance program.
“Participants will meet and interact with current Southeast dance majors,” said Hilary Peterson, instructor of theatre and dance.
High school seniors will also have the opportunity to audition for scholarships.

In addition, all Dance Day participants will receive free tickets to the afternoon performance of Fall for Dance 2011 scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast’s River Campus. Southeast dance students will host a free social dance event for all participants after the performance.
