Southeast Students Attending National Student Nurses Association Conferenceby News Bureau on
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 30, 2012 – Four nursing students and a nursing faculty member at Southeast Missouri State University will attend the National Student Nurses Association conference April 11-15 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Among the students is Kristina Scott of Brookfield, Mo., a first semester senior nursing major. She is president of the Southeast Student Nurses Association, president of the Missouri Nursing Students Association and northern director of the Council of State Presidents for the National Student Nurses Association. She recently authored an article published in the National Journal Imprint which is the national journal for the National Student Nurses Association. Also attending will be Kaitlyn Karleskint of Jackson, Mo., a junior nursing major and vice president of the Southeast Student Nurses Association. She is also the treasurer of the Missouri Nursing Students Association. Karleskint was recently awarded a national scholarship from Mayo Clinic called "Mayo Clinic Breakthrough to Nursing." She will be recognized at the upcoming convention, both at the opening general session and at a VIP reception for scholarship winners.
Other Southeast students to attend the conference will be Nick Redfearn of Littleton, Colo., and Lula Grant of Charleston, Mo.
Desma Reno, Southeast assistant professor of nursing, is the state consultant for the Missouri Nursing Student Association and will be accompanying the students to this national meeting. Missouri will have two Missouri nursing students running for national office and will also be submitting two resolutions for national debate for the Student House of Delegates.
