KRCU Holding Fall Membership Weekby News Bureau on
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 3, 2012 -- KRCU Public Radio kicked off its Fall Membership Drive on Wednesday, Oct. 3 during NPR’s “Morning Edition.”
The drive is currently airing through Oct. 10 and will feature many community members who are volunteering their time to answer the telephone and help by “pitching” on air to encourage others to support KRCU.
The station has partnered with My Daddy’s Cheesecake during Membership Week this fall to encourage new members to support the non-commercial NPR station. For a pledge of $45 or more, new members will receive a $10 gift card to My Daddy’s Cheesecake as a thank you.
KRCU General Manager Dan Woods said, “We are so excited to partner with My Daddy’s Cheesecake to help encourage new members to support KRCU, and we are appreciative of the generosity of Kevin and Susan Stanfield to make this possible.”
KRCU relies on listener
financial support to help cover the cost of programming. Member support and
underwriting make up more than 30 percent of the budget.
Woods also said, “With the
uncertainty of future federal funding, it is more important than ever that we
hear from listeners who enjoy the program variety provided by KRCU during
Membership Week. We need their support to continue to provide quality
non-commercial public radio programming to southeast Missouri and southern
