Southeast Wind Symphony Performing 'Hot and Saxy' Concert

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 26, 2012 – The Southeast Wind Symphony with Martin Reynolds, conductor, will perform in the concert, “Hot and Saxy,” scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6 in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus.

The concert will include “Nitro,” by Frank Ticheli, “Hell’s Gate,” by David Maslanka, which will feature students Ethan Flood, alto saxophone, Spencer Day, tenor saxophone, and Chris Gladwill, baritone saxophone, and “Danzas Cubanas,” by Robert Sheldon.

“Viktor’s Tale,” composed by John Williams and transcribed by Paul Lavender, will feature faculty member Gabrielle Baffoni on clarinet. This piece was showcased in the movie, “The Terminal,” which featured the actor, Tom Hanks.

The concert will conclude with “Huapango,” composed by José Pablo Moncayo, and “Thunder and Blazes,” by Julius Fučík.
