CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Nov. 29, 2012 – Theatre students at Southeast Missouri State University will present a series of short scenes as the culmination of their “Directing I” projects Dec. 11 and 13 in the Wendy Kurka Rust Flexible Theatre at Southeast’s River Campus.
The two–evening series at 7:30 p.m. will consist of 17 10-12-minute scenes, according to Dr. Phil Nacy, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance.
“All kinds of styles, from contemporary comedy to classic drama” will be featured, Nacy said. “The choice is left to the student directors and they usually come up with interesting and entertaining selections.”
These productions may contain adult content.
“The Directing I Showcase is a fast-paced and entertaining evening highlighting the work of first-time directors in Southeast’s Theatre and Dance program,” Nacy said. “In a series of short scenes featuring Southeast acting students, the new directors have an opportunity to turn what they learn in the classroom into on-the-stage public performances. The scenes are drawn from many dramatic styles, from contemporary comedy to classic drama. The Directing I Showcase is always an exciting and entertaining evening of theatre.”
Admission to the Directing I projects is free and open to the public.
