Hahn Named Southeast Director of Admissionsby News Bureau on
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Dec. 21, 2012 -- Lenell Hahn, associate director of Admissions at Southeast Missouri State University, has been named director of Admissions.
Hahn will begin her new duties Jan. 2. She replaces Dr. Debbie Below, who, in October, was promoted to vice president for enrollment management and student success and Dean of Students.
Hahn has served as associate director of Admissions since June 2011. She served as associate director of Admissions for Operations and Communications from April 2009 to June 2011. She served as assistant director of Admissions for Communications from July 2007 to April 2009. She was an Admissions Web counselor from July 2003 to July 2007.
“Lenell has provided leadership in all aspects of the University’s admissions organization and is prepared to lead the University’s new student recruitment program,” Below said. “Lenell enjoys planning special events and creating a highly-personalized experience for visitors to the University. She is an innovative leader and I look forward to working with her in her new role.”
Hahn is chair of Southeast’s Professional Staff Council and is a member of the Athletics Compliance Committee, Benefits Review Subcommittee, Budget Review, Enrollment Development Team, Financial Aid and Scholarship Review Committee, Information Technology Committee and Orientation Coordinating Committee. She previously has served on the Banner Management Committee, Equity Issues, Facilities Master Plan Ad Hoc Committee, IT Connections, Johnson Faculty Centre Governing Board, Online Learning AQIP Q2 Committee and the Student Affairs Appeal Committee.
She is currently serving as president-elect of the Missouri Association Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers. She is a member of the Cape Girardeau Jaycees, the Missouri Association of College Admissions Counselors, the Southeast Missouri School Counselor Association, Collegiate Information and Visitor Services Association, the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers and the National Association of College Admission Counselors.
Hahn holds a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, both from Southeast Missouri State.
The director of Admissions provides leadership for the Office of Admissions. The Office of Admissions provides pre-college awareness, recruitment and admission counseling services to prospective students, families, and high school guidance counselors. An annual recruitment program is prepared and executed to meet the enrollment goals of the University, as established by the Strategic Enrollment Management (SEM) Committee. New Student Programs, a function within the Office of Admissions, coordinates new student orientation programs and Opening Week activities.
Hahn, who will report to Below, will lead the development and implementation of effective strategies to attract, enroll and retain new students.
In addition, Hahn will oversee adherence to the University’s admission policy and the processing of undergraduate and graduate student admission applications for all campuses, including the regional campuses and satellite locations and for international students.
As the director of Admissions, Hahn also will provide pre-collegiate counseling/advising in the southeast Missouri service region to promote access to higher education.
