CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., March 15, 2013 -- The Southeast Missouri State University Equestrian Team will travel to Springfield, Mo., today, March 15, for their final show of the season.
Nine riders will compete at the Missouri State University hosted show on Saturday, March 16, finishing out the team’s season in hopes of gaining more Regional qualifiers.
Two Southeast riders, Meagan Smith of Dexter, Mo., and Kellie Constantin of Eureka, Mo., are already qualified in the Walk/Trot and Walk/Trot/Canter Equitation divisions. Three other riders --Kristie Miller of Geneseo, Ill., Katie Amrhein of Dardenne Prairie, Mo., and alumni rider Alex Wolf of St. Peters, Mo. -- are also very close to qualifying for Regionals, which mark the beginning of the team’s post season competitions. These will be held Sunday, March 17, at the Missouri State University arena.
The top two riders in each class at Regionals will advance to Zones which will be hosted by West Texas A&M in April. From there, the top two riders in each division will move on to Nationals.
The Southeast Missouri State University Equestrian Team has had quite a successful season and looks forward to advancing in the post season competitions, according to Smith, Southeast Missouri State University Equestrian Team historian.
