Enterprise Holdings Foundation Supports Theatre and Dance Senior Showcaseby News Bureau on
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., April 2, 2013 – The Enterprise Holdings Foundation has awarded a $4,000 grant to the Southeast Missouri University Foundation to support the Department of Theatre and Dance Senior Showcase, a cabaret for graduating seniors. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the company that operates the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands.
The Senior Showcase, scheduled for May, assists in professionally promoting graduating seniors with a degree in the performing arts at Southeast. The students perform for invited agents, casting directors and professional actors from major metropolitan markets.
“The Senior showcases in Cape Girardeau and New York City are two of the most important events for majors in the Department of Theatre and Dance,” said Dr. Philip Nacy, chair of the Department of Theatre and Dance. “The showcases provide them a launching pad from which to begin their early post-graduate careers. The money from this grant will have a huge impact on these young professionals. Without the generous support from our patrons and from such supportive corporations as Enterprise, it would be impossible to give these talented students such opportunities.”
Funds from the grant will be used to help cover travel expenses and honorariums for agents, casting directors and professional actors coming to campus to adjudicate the event. Selected students will advance to New York City to perform before agents, casting directors, alumni and friends of the University. The grant also will help support rental of a New York City theatre, travel funds and financial assistance for students.
