Perryville Higher Education Center Holding Ceremonies May 8by News Bureau on
PERRYVILLE, Mo., April 24, 2013 – The Perryville Higher Education Center will hold three ceremonial events on Wednesday, May 8.
The first ceremony will take place at noon at the “Welcome to Perryville” monument sign located at the corner of Edgemont and Perryville Boulevards. The sign welcomes visitors to Perryville and announces community events. Attendees can view the engraved capstones that are engraved with the names of the individuals, businesses and organizations who made the sign possible through donations.
Following the brief ceremony at the sign, the dedication of the new flag pole will take place at the Perryville Higher Education Center located at 108 South Progress Drive. The Perry County Military History Museum Committee, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Mineral Area College, and Southeast Missouri State University provided the flag pole for the center.
The 2013 Perryville Higher Education Center student scholarship recipients will be recognized following the dedication ceremonies. The Perry County Military History Museum will be open, and refreshments will be served in the Doheny Museum at the Perryville Higher Education Center.
Dr. Kenneth Dobbins, president of Southeast Missouri State University, and Dr. Steven Kurtz, president of Mineral Area College, will be present for all the events.
