Crisp Museum to Host Adult Art Workshopsby News Bureau on
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Aug. 28, 2013 – Adult Art Workshops are being hosted by the Rosemary Berkel and Harry L. Crisp II Museum at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus this fall as a part of the Tuesdays at the Museum workshops.
Each workshop is from 9 a.m. to noon.
This class will be held on Sept. 3, 10, 17 and 24. It will be led by Kelly Hughes. Participants will learn compositional principles, texturing techniques and color choices helpful in creating luminous landscape paintings. This class is open to watercolorists at any stage of practice.
Glass in Pastel Chalk
This workshop will be held on Oct. 1 and 8 and will be led by Ellen Hahs. Those attending this class will use pastel chalk on toned paper and create a realistic transparent glass still life. They will learn to break the image into light and dark shapes and lines to simplify realism.
This class will be held Oct. 15 and 22 and will be led by Hahs. Participants will advance their ability to capture portrait likenesses with a simple line drawing and a detailed shaded drawing. Fine details in facial features will be extensively covered during lectures, and practice sessions will involve graphite pencil, chalk and toned paper. Supplies are provided during class.
Portrait Oil Painting
This class will be held Nov. 5, 12, 19 and 26. It will be led by Cleda Curtis-Neal. Beginning as well as advanced artists will benefit from lessons in shape and line identification, compositional design, lighting subject and background, mixing flesh tone values and forming facial features.
This workshop will be held Dec. 3, 10 and 17 and will be led by Hahs. Books will be made with blank pages. Size can vary from notepad to sketchbook. Binding with Coptic stitch and long stitch will be taught. Supplies will be provided.
