Dufek Selected for Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation Faculty Seminarby News Bureau on
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 2, 2013 – Dr. Jim Dufek, professor of mass media at Southeast Missouri State University, has been selected as a Fellow to attend the 2013 Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation Faculty Seminar in Los Angeles, Calif.
Administered by the Television Academy Foundation’s Education Programs department, the Faculty Seminar, Nov. 10-16, offers college professors opportunities to see how television entertainment works behind the scenes.
Twenty faculty members from higher education institutions across the United States – chosen by the selection committee – are invited to Los Angeles for a week of discussions, presentations and interactions with major studios, production companies and networks, and their top production and programming staff.
Topics to be addressed include programming development, network/cable decision making, and the digital entertainment and news media.
Dufek is a professor and the television and film operations manager in the department of Mass Media. He serves on the Board of Directors for the Media Communication Association-International and the Missouri Motion Media Association. He is a member of the Broadcast Educators Association and the College Media Association. He is also a member of the Southeast Missouri Hospital Board of Trustees; vice president of the Southeast Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences; and president of the Notre Dame Regional High School Education Foundation.
