‘Queen of Bingo’ Guaranteed to Keep River Campus Audiences Laughing CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Oct. 14, 2009 – “The Queen of Bingo” will have audience members in stitches during their Oct. 30 performance at Southeast Missouri State University’s River Campus. The performance is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall located in the Cultural Arts Center. Jeanne Michels and Phyllis Murphy’s “The Queen of Bingo” explores the worlds of bingo, family ties, diet crazes, widowhood, hot flashes and winning. The audience joins in the fun during the “Middle Bird Special,” a real bingo game where some audience member wins a free 10-pound frozen turkey. Theatergoers young and old will howl with laugher as two zany guys, playing two crazy gals, light up the stage in the comedy hit “The Queen of Bingo.” “This is one of those really fun shows we get to bring to Cape Girardeau,” said Bob Cerchio, assistant director at the River Campus. “If you know anything about Bingo – or even if you don’t – you’ll laugh so hard, your sides will hurt. These gals are like your mom, aunt, sister or wife. That is, if your relatives are completely hilarious. Or maybe they’re like you!” Theatre A Go-Go’s production of “The Queen of Bingo” stars Shane Partlow and Rowan Joseph as the bingo-playing sisters, although when the show first premiered in Chicago in 1993, it featured a female cast. The show switched to an all-male cast in 2004. “The Queen of Bingo” has been touring since 2004, having performed in more than 20 states. Tickets may be purchased at the River Campus Box Office, located in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S. Fountain St., weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by calling (573) 651-2265. Tickets also may be purchased at any MetroTix outlet, online at MetroTix.com, keyword “Queen” or by calling toll-free: (800) 293-5949. |
