Transition Spaces 16.2

An exhibition space devoted to the work of artists within 150 miles of Cape Girardeau. This series features the work of Liz Montgomery. She uses self-exploration to acknowledge her roots of insecurity and issues of objectification with an inclusion of the figure. Each artwork becomes a conversation with a symbol. The areas of small, careful mark-making and quiet, cool-toned palettes are reflections of her default idealism. Even when dealing with negative experiences, she wants to share a spark of optimism. This exhibit is open to be viewed Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday, 1-4 p.m.

Peaceful Solitude: the Film Photography of Brian Alworth

Through August 20; River Campus, Crisp Museum

Alworth seeks to spot moments of quiet beauty, whether patterns of light on the wall of a narrow slot canyon or late afternoon sun through a stand of aspen in September. His quiet, deliberate and contemplative process involves using a manual, non-metered camera. This exhibit is open to be viewed Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday, 1-4 p.m.
