Non-Nursing Requirements

Required before entry into the nursing program

  • Anatomy and Physiology I
  • Anatomy and Physiology II
  • Microbiology
  • Written Expression (English Composition 2)
  • Chemistry

May be completed at any time

  • Social/Behavioral Sciences (students take 3-4 courses)
    • Human Growth and Development
    • U.S. Political Systems or Comparative Political Systems
    • American History I or American History II
  • Communication (students take 3-4 courses)
    • English Comp I 
    • English Comp II
    • Speech
  • Natural and Mathematical Sciences (students take 3-4 courses; must have 7 hours overall and one course must contain a lab)
    • Food and Nutrition
    • Chemistry (preferably with a lab)
    • Additional hours if needed to meet the 7 hours requirement or lab component
    • College-level math
  • Humanities and Fine Arts (students take 3-4 courses)
    • 9 hours of any courses
