Probably not as large as you might think. Our courses average 25 to 30 students per class, and fewer than 1 percent of the undergraduate courses at Southeast have 50 or more students. Most courses include small discussion groups and/or labs for more personal attention. Our student to faculty ratio is only 17:1 allowing for a personalized learning environment.
Of course, every college, regardless of size, has some large lecture classes. In those cases, we recommend that students sit close to the front of the classroom, ask questions and take advantage of the instructor's office hours and e-mail to discuss their understanding of the material. It also helps to sit with a friend in the class and to share notes and study time.
