The overwhelming majority of freshmen classes are conducted by full-time faculty.  There may be a few sections of a course with very few students where a graduate assistant or a part-time term faculty member teaches the course.  However, graduate assistants and term faculty are carefully trained, are credentialed and under the supervision of a full-time faculty member.
