No, they will not necessarily need a local bank account. Numerous ATMs are available both on and near campus, and with credit and debit cards, gift cards, etc., many first-year students do not necessarily need to have a local bank account. However, U.S. Bank does have a full banking facility located inside the Southeast Bookstore with ATMs available at the Bookstore and at the Towers Residence Hall complex.  A full list of local banks can be found on the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce Web site at http://www.capechamber.com/.
