Study Abroad Program
The Phi Kappa Phi Study Abroad program is a system in which Phi Kappa Phi student members can find guidance and potential financial support to engage in a one-year study plan in other countries.
Our Study Abroad advisor, Dr. Alice Strange, astrange@semo.edu, works with individual applicants to guide them in the construction and submission of a study plan and proposal in a foreign country. Phi Kappa Phi student members who seek to enhance their studies with such a unique experience can then submit a proposed study plan to the Southeast Chapter for approval. Arrangements are then made for acceptance and study at the university of choice, and credit hours for the study time.
But… travel and study cost money! Phi Kappa Phi, on a national level, provides an opportunity to apply for funding, $1000, to offset the cost of the study. The funding is competitive. Thirty-eight awards are given each year. Students who wish to apply should visit the Phi Kappa Phi national web site and follow the procedure for application. A student who has been approved for international study by the local chapter can submit an application with a letter of support from Southeast Phi Kappa Phi. Again, these students will want to seek assistance from the local Study Abroad Advisor.
All necessary instructions and forms to apply for the Study Abroad Grant can be found at the national Phi Kappa Phi site.
