All licensed peace officers and reserve officers must successfully complete a minimum of 48 hours of continuing education to maintain their peace officer license. It is the responsibility of the licensed officer to ensure their continuing education requirements are met.

 Each officer shall complete a minimum of four hours in all four core curricula areas. The core curricula areas are identified as:

Legal Studies
Interpersonal Perspectives
Technical Studies
Skill Development

In addition, a minimum of four hours of some type of Firearms Skill Development training must be completed every three year reporting period.

Once the core curricula area requirements (minimum of four hours in each) are satisfied, the remaining 32 hours may come from any of the four core curricula areas.

A minimum of 24 hours must come from a source identified as a POST Approved Provider, like the Law Enforcement Academy, and the statement "Approved Provider" must appear on your training certificate.

Every peace or reserve officer commissioned, licensed, and with the authority to enforce motor vehicle or traffic laws shall obtain at least one credit hour of continuing education training regarding racial profiling each calendar year. To meet this requirement, in-service racial profiling training courses must be pre-approved by POST or must be delivered by an Approved Provider such as the Law Enforcment Academy.

For officers Licensed in 2009, 2010 and 2011: (Reporting period #6)
The first date officers will be required to report their CEHs will be December 31, 2014.
Their next reporting date will be every reporting period there after.
