Chapter 650.340 RSMo:
“Any person hired as a telecommunicator after August 28, 1999, shall complete the training requirements as provided in subsection two of this section within 12 months of the date that such person is employed as a telecommunicator.”
Missouri law requires that any agency which has dispatchers who dispatch for more than one agency, such as police or sheriff’s departments which also dispatch for a volunteer or paid fire department or ambulance service, to provide a minimum of 40 hours training in their job which conforms to APCO Project 33 standards. This course will conform to those standards.
This 40-hour course will be offered in two, 20-hour weekend sessions. The dates of the course are: Nov. 9, 6 to 10 p.m.; Nov. 10 and 11, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The course will be held at the Poplar Bluff Public Library across from the police station in Poplar Bluff, Mo. The cost will be $250 per student, with $100 non-refundable and due upon registration. This course is not included in the Continuing Education contract package.

Instructor for this training is Chief Deputy Rick Sliger of the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, an APCO Certified Trainer. There are only 20 seats available for this training. There is a minimum of 15 participants required in order for this training to be offered. If needed, a second course will be offered in two sessions.
"Students attending Continuing Education programs sponsored by the Southeast Missouri State University Law Enforcement Academy must attend all of the regular blocks of instruction in order to receive a certificate of completion. In Continuing Education Programs, which consist of discreet blocks of instruction, the student may receive continuing education credits for those blocks which are actually completed."
