State-of-the-Art Facilities

The School of Polytechnic Studies is recognized as a Missouri Center of Excellence in Advanced Manufacturing Technology and has programs accredited by the National Association of Industrial Technology.  It is also recognized as the state model for the 2 + 2 transfer of technology degrees from community colleges.   The School provides high-tech education and specialized training to meet the needs of the region.

Because of the cooperation among area legislators, industry leaders and educators, Southeast Missouri State University has been given the opportunity to create a model for the education of students in the polytechnic disciplines.  The new Otto and Della Seabaugh Polytechnic Building is a state-of-the-art facility which has the finest classrooms, laboratories and equipment in an ergonomic setting designed to promote student learning.  Our facilities also include:

  • A new 11,000-square-foot Charles L. Hutson Horticulture Greenhouse
  • An All-America Selections Display Garden
  • The 252-acre David M. Barton Agriculture Research Center
  • A 110-acre rice research station, home of the Missouri Rice Breeder
  • A Technology Resource Center to promote interaction with area industries
