Intramural Sports Officials

We are CURRENTLY HIRING Intramural Sports Officials and Supervisors. Applicants must have experience as a participant, player, coach, or official in at least three of the following sports: football/flag football, soccer, baseball/softball, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, cricket, hockey/floor hockey. Steps for Applying for Employment:

Graduate Assistants of Recreation Services (all four positions)

  • Plan, organize, supervise, and manage special event programming
  • Attend university functions such as First STEP, Transfer Orientation, and Show Me Day events
  • Facilitate and assist with departmental projects as assigned
  • Assist with the facilitation of our department teambuilding and challenge program, as deemed appropriate
  • Assist with planning of camps and conferences, as deemed appropriate
  • Assist with youth & family programming, as deemed appropriate
  • Attend and participate in Recreation Services employee staff training, weekly staff meetings, and our professional development program
  • Work evening and weekends, as deemed appropriate to supervise operations and events
  • Each have area-specific responsibilities, as described below
  • Reports to the Assistant Director, Fitness & Wellness
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate group fitness instructors and personal trainers
  • Supervise group fitness and personal training program, and skill development courses
  • Create and administer safe fitness programs, staff manuals, and staff training program
  • Coordinate all statistical information for program participation
  • Maintain all equipment inventory and research and purchase new fitness-related equipment
  • Coordinate and assist in several fitness-related special events
  • Assist in annual wellness-based university employee/student health screenings and wellness fair
  • Assist the Assistant Director with management of the overall university student, faculty and staff wellness programming
  • Reports to the Coordinator, Intramural & Club Sports
  • Assist with planning, organizing, scheduling, marketing, supervising and evaluating programs and events
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate Intramural Sports Supervisors, Officials and Office Assistants
  • Assist with duties within the sport club program
  • Assist in budget development and management
  • Assist in the development of policies and guidelines that promote safety, care of equipment, and equal access
  • Ensure that accurate program statistics are maintained e.g. accident reports, point standings, and participant satisfaction surveys
  • Be proficient on, and enforce, all building and program policies and procedures
  • Coordinate and participate in disciplinary hearings
  • Continue to further develop and enhance the Intramural Sports and Club Sports Programs
  • Reports to the Associate Director, Recreation Services
  • Develop proactively marketing efforts for the department, utilizing a variety of angles such as our Reach screen, brochures, banners, table toppers, event posters/flyers, and t-shirt design
  • Manages all aspects of a comprehensive social media presence for the department, utilizing programs such as Hootsuite, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Present on behalf of the department during campus and community outreach activities
  • Provide graphic design, photography, and video support utilizing the graphic design tools such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, and a Mac computer
  • Develop and distribute campus-wide department press releases, flyers, newsletters, and promotional materials
  • Create and administer surveys, including customer and employee satisfaction
  • Contribute to website oversight to ensure all information is up to date and accurate Responds to work assignments for print and multi-media support
  • Adheres to the University Style Guide practices and standards and logo/trademark rules
  • Reports to the Assistant Director, Aquatics
  • Conduct facility in-service trainings
  • Coordinate & schedule private swim lessons
  • Assist with aquatic special events and swim meets
  • Assist with programs and events
  • Assist with risk management procedures
  • Coordinating all record keeping and statistics relevant to facility usage
  • Morning shift responsibility
  • Recruiting, hiring, training & scheduling staff
  • Manage swim programs and classes as well as the rental of local swim teams
  • Assist with maintenance and chemical processes within the facility


GA Academic Requirements and Benefits

Academic Information: Master’s degree options include Higher Education Administration (Sports Management option), Community Wellness, Exercise Science, Public Administration and Business Administration. A cumulative 2.75 GPA is required. A 3.0 is preferred. Specific degree requirements may differ according to the academic major.

Benefits: A complete in-state (Missouri residents) tuition remission is available for Missouri/Non-Missouri residents and a stipend of approximately $8,600.00 for nine months (all books and dedicated student fees are the responsibility of the graduate assistant and not paid by the department). Non-Missouri residents will only receive an in-state waiver only. Additional income for breaks and summer months may be available. Professional development assistance may also be available.

Evaluation/Renewal: This position is renewable for one year pending a complete evaluation of candidate performance and duties.  Termination or non-renewal of the assistantship may result if specific duties are not accomplished or the candidate receives documented poor performance reviews. Candidate must be available to start no later than Monday, January 8, 2018.
