Free Preview Weeks; Aug. 25 –Sept. 5

Preview all our Group Fitness classes for free these two weeks! TRX®, INSANITY®, Yoga Flow, Pilates, Strength and Conditioning, Body Bar Combat and much more! We have many classes to choose from, so try them all and find your favorites. After these 2 weeks, a semester pass is $40.00 and you attend any class you want for the entire semester!

Super Sign Up Weeks; Aug. 25 - Sept. 5

This is the time period to sign up for our incentive programs. Rowdy's "Rawk" Your Body Challenge, Move-It and Lose It, and Cardio Club are just to name a few. You can register for "Rawk" online at our website and sign up for the other two will be through the Rec Center.

Tailgate with Rec Services!; Aug. 28

Come join us for tailgaiting games before the first home football game.  Located on Bellevue Street in front of Houck Stadium.

The 37-Minute Triathlon; Sept. 17

If you have been curious about completing a triathlon (swim, bike, run) here is your chance to try it out for FREE! This is a great opportunity for Southeast students to use the lap pool, indoor cycling bikes and indoor running track to become triathletes. Heats are every hour (6am, 7am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm, 6pm) SRC-North

Learn to Teach Group Fitness; Sept. 23

Fueling for Fitness + INSANITY®; Sept. 24th

5:30pm-6pm, Fueling For Fitness, UC Program Lounge
There is a lot of confusion out there on what to eat before and after your workout. Registered Dietician, Laura Vollink, talks about proper ways to fuel your body the right way for the best results.

6:15pm-6:45pm, INSANITY®, UC Program Lounge
Following the lecture there will be a sample 30 minute free INSANITY class to show you one of our new, fun classes that we offer through Rec Services. This class involves high intensity interval training at it's very best!

All Day 5 K; Oct. 1

9am-5pm, SRC-North
Individually timed 5K fun run! Bring a friend or stop by on your own at the SRC-North. Weather permitting we will run a predetermined out-and-back outdoor course.

Wellness Screening; Oct. 7 - 9

6:00am-10:00am, SRC-North
This event is for all faculty, staff, spouses and retirees who want to keep their health in check. Cholesterol readings, blood pressure, hearing checks, and bone density scans are just a few of the screenings we will provide.

Student/Faculty/Staff Wellness Fair; Oct. 8

6am-2pm (Faculty/Staff) / 10am-2pm (Students), SRC-North
Stop by the SRC-North to meet and greet with a variety of different health and wellness companies and organizations on and off campus. Try a free chair massage, have your spinal alignment checked and sign up for great door prizes! Check the website for a list of vendors who will be present!

Lunch & Learn: Diabetes Prevention; Oct. 22

12-1pm, UC Program Lounge
Over 29 million people across the US now suffer from Type 2 Diabetes. This disease greatly affects your health but there are many ways to prevent it simply by changing your diet. Find out ways to reduce your risk with Registered Dietician, Laura Vollink. Come for the info then stay for a free lunch provided by Rec Services. Reserve your spot now because spaces are limited!

Halloween Yoga Glow; Oct. 28

8:30pm, SRC-North, Group Fitness Studio
Glow as you flow! Try our glow in the dark Yoga class at the Rec. Dress in a white t-shirt, free bracelets and necklaces, door prizes galore! This class is free of charge. Hope to see you there!

Zombie Run; Oct. 29

What better way to get ready for Halloween than running through an exciting Obstacle Course while being chased by Zombies! Try to make it to the end of the course without getting attacked!

Know Your Numbers; Nov. 5

Having trouble interpreting your wellness screening numbers? Come listen to this free seminar and talk to Dr. Jeremy Barnes, Professor of Health Promotion. Learn the proper number for blood pressure, BMI, blood lipid profile, etc. Please register ahead of time through Rec Services.

Myofascial Release Seminar; Nov. 12

12-1pm, Multipurpose Room, SRC-North
Self-myofascial release is quickly, if not already, becoming a common type of modality seen in many workout routines. With any new workout trend, there are often many questions. Come and find out some basic information on the benefits of incorporating foam rolling into your workouts along with tips on how to properly foam roll certain muscle groups.

Superhero Fitness Challenge; Nov. 18

5:30-9pm; SRC-North
Dress up like your favorite super hero and compete to win prizes in different events. Bench press, squats, sit ups, push ups, standing long jump, flexibility are just a few contests to name a few. Also win prizes for having the best costume.

Wellness Wrap Up Party; Dec. 3

12-1pm; Multipurpose Room, SRC-North
Celebrate the end of the semester and all your hard work! If you completed one or more of our incentive programs such as "Rawk" Your Body or Move It & Lose in this semester we'd like to reward you with prizes and a free lunch. Registration is required so we hope to see you there.

Stress Busters; Dec. 10

10:30am-1pm; UC, Program Lounge
The perfect way to de-stress before finals! Stop by the UC for a free chair massage, mellow out in the oxygen bar or meditate in the relaxation lounge. This service is free for all students, faculty and staff.

New Wellness Program for Faculty & Staff

Recreation Services is launching a new wellness program through which faculty and staff, and their spouses will be able to earn a free or discounted recreation center membership. By participating in Recreation Services programs, faculty and staff can earn SE or "Sweat Equity" points during three consecutive semesters that can then be cashed in for a free or discounted recreation center membership. All you have to do is sign up; we'll do the rest! A current membership is not required to participate in the program.

New Membership Options, Program Offerings

Recreation Services has added the option of a monthly fee schedule to its membership rates. Beginning Monday, Jan. 14, individuals wanting to purchase a membership for a period less than a full semester will have the option of purchasing a monthly membership. All-Inclusive or Full Student Recreation Center memberships will be available on a monthly basis.

Recreation Services now offers opportunities for those without a membership to participate in the group fitness and intramural sports programs. For $80 per semester, non-members may purchase a group fitness pass that will allow them to participate in group fitness classes without having to purchase a recreation center membership. Similarly, the purchase of a $40 per semester intramural sports pass will allow non-members to participate in intramural sports activities.
