Philippine National Dance Company Saturday, October 23 - 7:30 pm
The Bayanihan (pronounced: buy a née an) Philippine National Folk Dance Company is the oldest dance company in the Philippines. A multi-award-winning company, it was the first Filipino artists to break into Broadway and the first non-American dance company to perform at the New York State Theater of the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. The Bayanihan story spans 43 years of performances all over the world. The company takes its name from the ancient Filipino tradition of Bayanihan, which signifies working together for the common good. The dancers’ skill and grace transfer the indigenous dance and music traditions from their ancient origins in the countryside to the confines of the stage without sacrificing authenticity. Tickets may be purchased at the River Campus Box Office, located in the Cultural Arts Center, 518 S. Fountain St., weekdays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or by calling (573) 651-2265. Tickets also may be purchased at any MetroTix outlet, simply click on the link, or by calling toll-free: (800) 293-5949.
