Allen Lane began working in electronics and electricity in 1973 in the United States Navy. He trained and worked in electronics communications and electronics warfare technology in the USN from 1973 to 1979.

Lane began broadcast engineering at KFVS-TV in 1980. He performed the duties as transmitter supervisor and chief operator for KFVS-TV. In 1985, Lane left KFVS-TV to take the position as assistant chief engineer at KBSI-TV. In 1987, Lane began employment at Southeast Missouri State University. Duties at the University have included installation and maintenance of the University's cable TV system, corporate video facilities, interactive TV labs, radio studios, and FM transmitter sites.

Lane presently works full time for (KRCU and KSEF) as the chief engineer and chief operator. He has also taught adults in electronics, electricity and National Electric Code at night since 1984 at the Cape Girardeau Career Technology Center.
