SEPR Circle

Overview

Who are members of the Southeast Public Radio Circle?
The Southeast Public Radio Circle is a group of couples and individuals who make sustaining commitments of $42 a month or more to Southeast Public Radio, the nonprofit public radio station licensed to Southeast Missouri State University. Circle members choose to make this significant commitment in order to provide the station with a sustained source of capital funds for equipment and other “bricks and mortar” expenses. There are three levels to this major donor group:

Bronze

$500 - $999

Silver

$1,000 - $1,999

Gold  $2,000 +

How Circle Funds Are Used
In previous years, Circle funds were used to purchase a new computerized recording and editing system, giving KRCU state-of-the-art recording and production technology. In 2001, KRCU added a fifth full-time staff position to help enhance local programming efforts. This position was funded in part through the Circle.

Circle funds were used in 2001-2002 to pay for the purchase of new equipment and technology, and expenses related to expanding KRCU’s coverage area. The expansion increased the station's reach and allowed more listeners to enjoy the station's programming.  Circle funds helped pay incidental expenses – about $31,000 – associated with the project.

Circle funds were applied to expenses for expansion of the station's coverage area in early 2006 when KSEF 88.9 FM began broadcasting in Farmington, Missouri. This new 9,500 watt station repeats the signal of KRCU in Cape Girardeau and reach into South St. Louis.

Circle Membership
Circle members may pay pledges annually, semi-annually, quarterly or monthly. Several members have chosen to make multi-year pledges. Circle gifts are treated as gifts to Southeast Missouri University Foundation, with full credit toward appropriate Foundation giving levels such as President’s Council and Horizon Club.

Recognition
Southeast Public Radio Circle members receive several unique benefits, including weekly recognition by name on-air, if desired; an annual reception/recognition event; a quarterly newsletter and more.

The Southeast Public Radio Circle was started in 1998.
