Lloyd Rohler presented the annual Joseph H. Low Lecture at Southeast Missouri State University. A professor of communication studies at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington, Dr. Rohler will discuss the legacy of George Wallace and his impact on American politics and race relations in the South.

Mai Neng Moua spoke this past week as part of Southeast Missouri State University’s Multicultural Speaker Series. Ms. Neng Moua’s and her family, like many ethnic Hmong people, fled Laos in the 1970s to escape persecution at the hands of the Laotian communist regime. After some time in a refugee camp in Thailand, she and her family came to settle in St. Paul, Minnesota. She is now a writer and editor of Paj Ntaub Voice, a Hmong-American literary arts magazine.

Paul Thompson, guest director of the Southeast Missouri Symphony, will discuss the final performance of the 2006-2007 season, “Inspirations from England.” The concert will feature works by Ralph Vaughn Williams and George Frederic Handel.
