Southeast Missouri State University history professor Joseph Werne recently penned his latest book, The Imaginary Line: A History of the United States and Mexican Boundary Survey 1845-1857. He spoke with Chris Schnell about the book and the history of Mexico.

Sand prairies are left-over beaches and alluvial sediment from rivers that long-ago changed their courses. Once common in Southeast Missouri, there are now only a few patches of sand prairie left. Southeast Public Radio's Jacob McCleland visited two sand prairies with the Missouri Department of Conservation's natural history biologist, Bob Gillespie.
