Even though Americans now have access to a wider range of media outlets, people still are not well-informed on news and current events. Attention is instead devoted to celebrity news and gossip. Amber Hannahs, a senior at Southeast Missouri State University, gave a presentation dealing with celebrity voyeurism as part of the Department of Communication's COMMrade's Fall 2007 Speaker Series.

Old Town Cape is a non-profit organization that helps promote Cape Girardeau's downtown district. They have several ongoing projects, including the Fountain Street expansion, adding more police officers to the downtown area on weekends, and development to compliment the new River Campus. Old Town Cape's executive director, Marla Mills, gives us a rundown on the latest from downtown.

Cape Girardeau's arts community has been busy, in part due to the new River Campus and to the work of the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri. The Arts Council's executive director, Delilah Tayloe, fills us in on their many projects.
