Going Public for September 30, 2007

The United Way of Southeast Missouri will kick off a new early childhood learning campaign called “Born Learning,” in conjunction with national United Way’s “Success by Six” program. The campaign’s goal is improved preparation for children heading into kindergarten.

Dr. Mary Dillivan is chairperson of the campaign. She spoke with Going Public’s Tom Harte.

Southeast Missouri State University recently purchased a new farm near Gordonville, to take the place of the old one which will be gobbled up by the new interchange.

The Department of Agriculture also received a USDA Rural Development grant to research a subterranean irrigation system, which will be installed at the new farm.

Dr. Michael Aide is the chairperson of the Department of Agriculture. He spoke with Going Public's Jacob McCleland.

Chris Wubbena is a new professor in the Art Department at Southeast Missouri State University. A sculptor, his work is currently on display at the River Campus’s Art Gallery. He spoke with Jacob McCleland.
