Nationwide, the average cost of gas has topped $4 a gallon for the first time in our nation’s history. And in parts of California, the average price has topped $4.50 a gallon. In Missouri, however, the average price of $3.80 a gallon is the lowest in the nation, thanks to a lucky combination of geography, taxes and ethanol production. Southeast Missouri State and the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center will be teaming up to present Ecological History Day on June 21. Participants may learn how Missouri's landscape has changed through time, investigate what Missouri was like during the last ice age, gather information on research being conducted at a nearby dig site, and learn were dinosaurs lived in Missouri's past. One of the event’s organizers, Christine Aide, will discusses the program.

The Des Lee Gallery in St. Louis will feature “breathing in, out”…a large solo exhibit of photographs by Washington University graduate student Shannon Randol. A native of Cape Girardeau, Randol is now completing an MFA with a focus in photography. The exhibit will be on display June 17 through the 28th. Shannon Randol spoke with SEPR's Jacob McCleland.
