Safe House For Women offers a secure place for women who are victims of abuse. Summertime often sees an increased need for Safe House’s services.

Safe House for Women’s executive director, Linda Garner, spoke with KRCU’s Jacob McCleland.

The American Wind Symphony Orchestra was formed in 1957 in Mars, Pennsylvania. The orchestra will perform its final concert here in Cape Girardeau on August 18. Bob Gifford has been helping organize the concert. He spoke with KRCU’s Tom Harte.

Greyhounds make great pets, but many are killed after their racing days are over. Gene Mangus is a member of the Cape Girardeau, Missouri chapter of Greyhound Pets of America. He spoke with Going Public’s Joel Rhodes.

The U.S. Department of Transportation will provide over $900,000 in stimulus funding to improve a mode of transportation that conjures images of Mark Twain. The Mississippi County Port Authority will use that funding to purchase a new barge to accommodate more vehicles on the Dorena-Hickman Ferry. KRCU’s Jacob McCleland headed over to the river to bring us this story.
