Independence Street was once an important thoroughfare for Cape Girardeau, but time has not been kind to the street’s physical condition. The City of Cape Girardeau has just begun a year-long project to completely redo the street.

High gas prices are forcing many of us to find creative ways to reduce fuel consumption. In some cases, city governments are thinking outside the box to find ways that can help citizens spend less money at the gas pump. The city of Desloge is considering an ordinance that will allow golf carts and utility vehicles on city streets.
