The neighborhood surrounding Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus in Cape Girardea was rezoned this week from light industrial to downtown residental/commercial. The area has not been used as a commercial zone for decades, so rezoning simply makes it easier to keep sawmills or other industrial complexes from moving in to the area in the future.

Also this week, the city got more information about the sinkhole problems that has ravaged south Cape Girardeau.

Going Public's Jacob McCleland spoke with Ken Eftink, Cape Girardeau's Director of Development Services, to discuss both issues.

The 2008 National Manufacturing and Logistics Report Card gave Missouri an "A" as the best state in the nation for manufacturing. We'll talk with Michael Hicks, an Economics professor at Ball State University who helped compile the survey.

Stewart Acuff is the assistant to the president of the ACL-CIO. He spoke with Jacob McCleland about the Employee Free Choice Act and other issues important to organized labor.
