The neighborhood surrounding Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus in Cape Girardea was rezoned this week from light industrial to downtown residental/commercial. The area has not been used as a commercial zone for decades, so rezoning simply makes it easier to keep sawmills or other industrial complexes from moving in to the area in the future.
Also this week, the city got more information about the sinkhole problems that has ravaged south Cape Girardeau.
