A new study shows that health care premiums in Missouri rose over 4 times faster than earnings.

The study, conducted by the consumer health organization Families USA, looked at income and premiums in the Show-Me State during the period of 2000 to 2007. According to the study’s authors, earnings increased by 17.3 percent compared to a 76.1 percent increase in health care premiums.

Southeast Missouri State University has upgraded its facilities where students can receive assistance with their writing. The newly renamed Center for Writing Excellence will have a grand opening on October 8, 2008. Allen Gathman, director of the Center, spoke about some of the services offered in the facility.

The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance will run the musical producation "The1940's Radio Hour" from October 1 through October 5 at the River Campus Cultural Arts Center in Cape Girardeau.
