A woman in Fresno, California recently found a baseball card dating to 1869. The card carries a picture of the Cincinnati Red Stockings baseball team, the first professional baseball club in the United States. Not realizing what she had, the woman nearly sold the card on eBay for ten dollars. Upon discovering how unique … and potentially valuable … this card is, she ended the auction.
Tim Wiles, director of research for the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, New York discussed the history of the ballclub with Jacob McCleland.
