On Friday, March 27 our good friend and colleague, Chris Schnell, passed away. He was 66.

Chris taught history at Southeast Missouri State University since 1971. Chris, along with Tom Harte and Peter Bergerson, were the original trio that discussed current events on KRCU’s Going Public, starting in 1996.

Chris was a teacher, a mentor, an intellectual, and a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a great fan of Kansas State football and basketball, and of music … especially rock n’ roll of the 1950s.

KRCU's Jacob McCleland talks to Clint Tracy, who serves the 158th District in the Missouri House.

Representative Tracy sponsored House Bill 802, which would raise the income percentage threshold that a family needs in order to receive assistance from the Missouri Housing Development Commission under the Neighborhood Assistance Act in order to obtain affordable owner-occupied housing. The threshold is currently 50% of a geographic area’s median income.

Representative Tracy also co-sponsored House Bill 615, which would change the classification of all methamphetamine precursor drugs, making a doctor’s prescription necessary in order to obtain them. Sudafed, for instance, would become a prescription drug instead of over-the-counter medicine.
