The Clean Water Act was passed 25 years ago and the National Research Council just released a new report on its impact on the Mississippi River.
The committee's chair, Dr. David Dzombak from Carnegie-Mellon University, says that the Environmental Protection Agency and the ten states that border the Mississippi River have made some good progress in eliminating point-source contamination from factories and waste water treatment. The new challenge, he says, is non-point source contamination from agricultural runoff.
Dr. Dzombak spoke with SEPR's Jacob McCleland.
