Broadway Melodies Mondays at 7 p.m. Dennis C. Seyer created the show format for Broadway Melodies and has been the host since its premiere on Southeast Public Radio in October 1995. Dennis Seyer has always had a love of musical theatre, the New York Theatre District, the history of musical theater in America, and the personalities (singers, dancers and actors), composers, directors, designers and the historical theatres associated with the production of musical theatre today on Broadway. He journeys to New York City at least once a year (sometimes more) since 1968, and has visited London many times as well, to see the current shows, to network with those in the industry, to update his current book and CD library, and of course, to sample the various cuisine that NYC & London has to offer. Some of the more recent Broadway shows that he has viewed include Mary Poppins, The Drowsy Chaperone, Wicked, Monty Python’s Spamalot, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Hairspray, The Boy from Oz, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Avenue Q, The Producers, and Chita Rivera in The Dancer’s Life. Dennis Seyer has been a member of the Southeast faculty since 1977 and is a professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance where he serves as teacher, scenic designer/technical director for productions in the Forrest H. Rose Theatre, and secondary education advisor for those students aspiring to be teachers in the speech and theatre fields. He also serves as a professional stagehand, a freelance scenic designer, and a theatre consultant. He is happy to be a member of the Southeast Public Radio family. “Give my regards to Broadway!” Hosted by Dennis Seyer
