Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education: Social Studies

The purpose of the B.S. in Secondary Education: Social Studies program is to prepare teachers to teach social studies in the secondary schools. In addition to developing a knowledge base in history and the social science disciplines, students learn the methodological approaches by which the social studies may be taught, applying and refining those approaches in the clinical field experiences required of the program.

Program Planning Guide: The planning guide (in PDF format) includes a detailed list of the courses you must complete in order to earn a B.S. Ed. degree in Secondary Social Studies.  It also includes criteria for advancing to different stages of the program as well as a tentative schedule for completing the degree in four years.  The document includes the same information detailed in the "Courses and Curriculum" page above.

  • This planning guide is for students who are on the 2010-11 or 2011-12 catalog years.

  • This planning guide is for students who are on the 2008-09 and 2009-10 catalog years.
