Field Education and Agency List

During your final semester of Southeast’s Social Work Program, you are required to complete 480 clock hours of field education. You will work under the supervision of experienced social workers, while involved in a variety of human-service projects. This field experience allows you to gain first-hand experience and utilize the knowledge, skills and social work values you have received from the program.

Student Comments:

“If you go into your field education with an open mind and are willing to move outside of your comfort zone to experience new scenarios, you will really have a wonderful internship experience. I was very nervous about what my role would be and did not have any idea what I was getting myself into. Now that I have been working with a population of people that I never saw myself interacting with, I have really learned a lot more about myself and my ability to help others. There are so many good experiences available to you during your time as a social work field education student at Southeast. If you become actively involved in your agency and the community, you will graduate with much stronger social work skills that will stay with you for the rest of your career.”

Photo of Damon Crucani  "Field education was easily the best, most meaningful learning experience I had while at  Southeast. Not to say it wasn’t challenging - it was. But most rewarding experiences are. It was a great opportunity to practice and examine the skills I had acquired in the social work  program in a real-world setting. I feel like the field education was invaluable in terms of preparing me for a career in generalist social work practice. Because of field education, I was much more comfortable when I started work after graduation.”
