Pontiac Performance, a national magazine sent to Pontiac owners, has featured a story about Washington Mo. native and Southeast graduate Dane Huxel. The article, "Part of the Solution," focuses mainly on Dane’s active involvement at Southeast. Dane displayed his Southeast pride by using a picture of himself in a Redhawks t-shirt for the photo (Left).
A member of the Golden Eagles marching band and a former Man of the Year candidate, Dane reached the high point of his active college career when he served as student body president his junior year. He says the most memorable part of his presidency was being involved in Southeast’s official mascot name change to the Redhawks.
Dane graduated in May ’06 with a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology, and is now working with AT&T selling Yellow Pages. Dane says he chose a job in sales because of his experiences outside the classroom and his love for working with people.
With so many great memories at Southeast and so much commitment on campus, Dane’s best advice for future Southeast students is to get involved because it will make the college experience even better.
“Whether its sports, religious groups, Greek Life, Residence Hall Association, Student Government, or a club within your major, being involved can open up more possibilities than you could ever imagine,” he said.
