Terrick Willoughby credits Southeast for his success in every aspect. A native of Biloxi, Miss., and former Redhawks basketball player, Terrick says Southeast taught him a lot about time management and how to prioritize.

“With the balance between basketball and academics, it created that motivated work ethic that is needed in order to yield successful results,” he says.

Terrick graduated from Southeast in December 2007 with a degree in computer technology. He now resides in Waterloo, Ill., where he is employed by John Deere as a factory automation engineer.

“I work in Drivetrain Operations where we build transmissions for the 7000, 8000, and 9000 series tractors,” Terrick said. “I am a manufacturing engineer with a focus on automation, and my responsibilities are to program, implement, maintain and update automated systems in our facility.”

Terrick says his favorite part of the job is implementing and updating automated systems.

“I really enjoy the processes that are involved with implementing automated systems,” he says.

One of his favorite memories at Southeast is when the Redhawks men’s basketball team made it to the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.

When in Cape Girardeau, Terrick says he enjoys hanging out with friends and giving back to the community.
