Bryce Kristal of Pleasanton, Calif., works to promote financial responsibility to students at Southeast Missouri State University.
She graduated from Southeast with a bachelor’s degree in education. She now attends Southeast working toward a master’s degree in secondary school administration.
Bryce holds the position of personal financial responsibility graduate assistant under the enrollment management area in the Office of Admissions.
Bryce says, “I learn and search for new ways to save money and then put them into programs/seminars for college students. These programs also include information on how to become familiar with a student loan and gain a little bit of knowledge about saving and investing.”
On top of this job, Bryce says she did student teaching at local schools during her undergraduate career and also works as a camp counselor in an activities camp in California.
“I love working with kids and after a few weeks of trying to master a skill, seeing the excitement of them finally getting the skill down makes it all worth it,” she says.
Bryce says, “I chose Southeast, because my twin sister and I were looking for a Division I university that we could play tennis coming in as freshmen.”
“My sister and I broke and set a new record for the amount of doubles wins at Southeast,” she says.
Bryce says he had a great experience with the tennis team and other campus activities.
“I have to say that being involved in athletics and other clubs such as the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC), along with all the traveling I was able to do with the tennis team had to be one of the best things,” she comments.
Bryce says she met many different people through various activities at Southeast.
“At Southeast I was introduced to all different kinds of people from all over the place. Some of these people have become my best friends,” she says, “Getting to travel and meet new people always gives you a new way to look at things and a new perspective.”
Bryce says she participated in canned food drives and Toys-For-Tots.
“Being involved in those different activities among others was great, and it allowed me to meet even more people,” she says.
Bryce recommends to future Southeast students, “Get involved and stay involved. Also, I just recently traveled to Europe this past spring break to London and Paris with school. I highly recommend to a future student to study abroad, even for only a week.”
