“My time at Southeast has helped me set my priorities straight. It has helped me realize that time management and studying strategies are two of the most important factors in order to have a successful educational experience.”

These are Cassandra Wilson’s sentiments as she reflects on her experience as a student at Southeast Missouri State University. A technical graphics major who plans to graduate in May, Cassandra has enjoyed a very full life as a Southeast student and says some of her favorite moments at the University included reading, writing, going to football and basketball games, seeing movies with friends, playing volleyball, and doing volunteer work. In addition, she works on campus in Academic Hall in the Cooperative Advising Office as a student employee.

Cassandra describes herself as a “creative person,” a trait which likely comes in handy in her role as a technical graphics major. She plans to continue her studies in this field as a graduate student, hopefully at Arizona State University or University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Cassandra is involved in many ways in life at Southeast. To that end, she has some sage advice for future Southeast students: “I would say to put God first in all that you do, and you cannot go wrong.  Go to class, apply yourself to your studies and get involved in academic programs.

Academics [are] very important, but [they are] not everything. Get involved on campus in organizations, be sociable and have fun. Your college experience only happens once in a lifetime, so make the best of it.”
