Admissions Policies

 Who Can Apply?

The courses in this training program may be combined with undergraduate and graduate degree studies. Also, this training program is available to non-degree seeking individuals and current professionals in the field who hold at least a bachelor’s degree or plan to get one from an accredited college or university.

Current students who plan to participate in this certificate training program and obtain the ABA certificate as a supplement to coursework within their major are encouraged to work closely with the ABA certificate program coordinator. This process will determine the most effective learning experiences consistent with the individual student career goals and will assist the student to plan their academic programs in such a manner that increases the eligibility for taking the certification national exam following graduation. 

How to Apply for Admission to this Certificate Training Program?

Participation in this training program requires formal admission to the program. Students and professionals wishing to be formally admitted into the ABA certificate training program need to complete the ABA Admission Form and be advised by the ABA program’s coordinator. This application is available online at: http://www.semo.edu/hes/ or it can be obtained from the Department of Human Environmental Studies  by calling (573) 651-2109. Applicants to the ABA certificate training program are required to meet admission standards that may go beyond the basic admission requirements to the university and their major.


Eligible Candidates and Admission Requirements for the ABA Certificate Program:

  1. Current students who are admitted to the university and are seeking a bachelor’s degree or a graduate degree. Undergraduate students must have completed at least 60 hours of college credits and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00.
      
  2. Individuals who hold at least a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university must submit application for admission to the university.
      
  3. Applicants must have and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 in all required courses for the certificate program.
      
  4. Applicants must comply with the university and the practicum sites’ requirements regarding criminal background check.
      
  5. Applicants must submit the following materials with their applications:
    a-An updated resume; b-at least two letters of recommendation from professionals; c- A letter of intent stating the applicant’s career goals and their involvement with the field of Applied Behavior Analysis. The completed application form and other support materials should be mailed to:
