The ABA certificate training program at Southeast Missouri State University is designed according to guidelines and competency standards established by the national Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB)©. These guidelines can be found at www.bacb.com . This training program offers the coursework and some of the practical experiences that are required by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB)© for taking the BACB’s national certification exam to become a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst™ (BCaBA®)*. Our ABA program includes:
- A three-course sequence (9 credits) that meets the BACB's coursework eligibility requirements to sit for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB®)** exam.
- Two field experience courses that include a minimum of 240 hours of supervised practicum experiences that contribute to some of the experiential requirements to sit for the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB®) exam.***
* The “Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst”™ (BCaBA®) certification is granted by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB)© and not by Southeast Missouri State University or DESE (the Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education). To become a broad certified behavior analyst, individuals must meet the eligibility standards that are set by the National Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) and pass the BACB’s national exam. ** The Behavior Analyst Certification Board, Inc.® has approved the ABA course sequence at the Southeast Missouri State University as meeting the coursework requirements for eligibility to take the Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst”™ (BCaBA®). ***Students may be able to completely satisfy supervised experience requirements for the BCaBA certification by enrolling in additional practicum experiences and internships.
