Real World Experience All students majoring in Anthropology at Southeast are required to participate in some form of field work, whether archaeological or anthropological. The opportunities for this hands-on experience are limitless. Examples of field work done by students in the past include archaeological research in Fiji, Mexico and the Southwest. Other students interested in linguistics have received experience working here in Southeast Missouri with growing populations of Hispanics and Asians. Internships also are encouraged. Some students have accepted extended opportunities to gain experience beyond the requirements of field work. Examples of past internships include work as a bilingual facilitator in the Jackson, Mo. school district, work with the National Parks Service in Missouri in the area of ethnographic interpretation, and work with the migrant center in Kennett, Mo. Southeast often places students for both field work and internships at the Wickliffe Mounds Research Center in Wickliffe, Ken. |
