Why Should I Study Athletic Training at Southeast?

  • The varied experience you will gain through the various clinical and internship opportunities offered in the athletic training program will allow you to expand your knowledge of the field, enhance your networking opportunities and provide you with the real-world experience needed in today’s competitive world.
  • As a student in Southeast’s athletic training program, you will benefit from working with the latest equipment used for therapy and physical rehabilitation
  • The clinical experiences you will have as part of our athletic training program will familiarize you with the many diverse career settings in which an athletic trainer can work, thus helping you determine which area you would like to pursue.
  • Southeast’s athletic training program has been CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education) accredited since 1998.
  • The Southeast Athletic Training Students’ Association (SATSA) offers you the opportunity to interact with your peers and provides you with opportunities to network with professionals in the field of athletic training.  The SATSA is directed towards the professional development of our athletic training students.
  • Ninety-five percent of Southeast’s athletic training graduates become certified athletic trainers through the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC). Forty-two percent of our graduates pass the certification exam on their first try, compared to only 32 percent nationally.
  • Students in Southeast’s athletic training program enjoy small classes and a low student-faculty ratio of 10:1
  • Southeast’s athletic training program has two full-time faculty members dedicated to our program. Many other institutions only offer one faculty position dedicated to the program, sometimes even requiring the faculty member to split responsibilities with other areas. Our faculty’s 100 percent dedication to the program guarantees you easy access to faculty when extra assistance is needed and also ensures attention is given to all athletic training accreditation guidelines.
