Clinical Experiences: As an athletic training student, you also are required to complete six clinical experiences that are supervised by a certified athletic trainer at an affiliated clinical site. These clinical practicums are done in conjunction with specific athletic training courses and allow you to utilize and apply the knowledge gained from these courses in a clinical setting.
During these clinical experiences, you will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of certified athletic trainers who work with some of Southeast’s Division I athletic teams, including football, baseball, softball, volleyball, gymnastics, men and women’s basketball, cross country and track and soccer. You also will have the chance to work with local high school teams, including Cape Central, Notre Dame, Jackson, and Saxony Lutheran, under the supervision of certified athletic trainers from Southeast Hospital and St. Francis Medical Center.
Each practicum encompasses one academic semester and averages approximately 15 hours per week. (link to internship section for more info)
